If you currently own a generator, or have had one recently installed, we can help you keep it running reliably and make suggestions that will allow you to attain the maximum life expectancy from it. In our view and experience, that should be 20 years or more.
Below are just a few problems that we encounter regularly, that need to be resolved, to provide the aforementioned reliability and longevity.
Rodent damage.
This results from mice, chipmunks or squirrels entering your generator through holes and openings that haven't been sealed. We use sprayfoam to seal these holes. They chewed the wire insulation on this unit causing the capacitors to fail.
Water damage
This is a burned stator - very expensive to repair.
Water enters the generator in a number of ways. Sprinklers from ground level, spray through the louvers, the generator is sunk into the ground, allowing water to just flow inside, and water cascading off a roof with clogged gutters or no gutters. We try to prevent this damage before it happens by giving you options to resolve the water problem.
Failed engine oil pump
This generator engine had no oil pressure. We dissassembled the engine on site to determine the cause and found this stripped oil pump gear. The oil pump was replaced and the generator runs like new. We do all repairs at your home to save you time and money. We will not charge you to remove, transport and return the unit so we can work on it in the shop. That is unnecessary.
Generator is below grade level
This is a very common problem that creates many problems due to water infiltration. In this case, the burned out stator in the picture above was the result. We replaced the stator and rotor and temporarily raised this unit. We will be putting this machine on an elevated base in the spring. As always, all repairs are done at your home. We do not remove your generator.
